Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel’s office is remaining silent regarding an ongoing investigation in Chattooga County into aleged voter fraud stemming from the 2008 election.  The Secretary of State’s office did confirm an investigation was ongoing, but told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio that the focus of that investigation has not been released.

Chattooga County was the focus of an investigation that lead to the removal of former state court judge Carlton Vines, but in the 2006 election Vines seat on the bench was determined by absentee ballots that were the focus of the investigation.  In the 2008 election no office was won based on the results of absentee ballots.

The Secretary of States office continues to state that "any reports that the focus of the investigation have been revealed to anyone are false."
