The foreclosure sale of the Mount Berry Square is expected to draw some interest on the steps of the Floyd County courthouse on Tuesday but it remains to be determined if that interest will translate in a sale.

Lisa Bell with Chicago-based Urban Retail Properties LLC (URP) said that it was too early to discuss the mall in Rome but suggested we contact her office after the sale Tuesday. URP has been involved in mall development both domestically and internationally. It is also involved in property management and just this past February, created a new Urban Receivership Services partnership to assist owners with developing solutions for distressed assets.

URP’s interest in the mall property could fall within any of its three primary service areas.

The J.E. Robert Company had been provider receivership services for the Bank of America, which is formally foreclosing on the almost 20 year old Mount Berry Square mall. Jones Lang LaSalle, based in Chicago, took over day-to-day operations of the mall in January of 2009 after the Lightstone Group defaulted on a note for the property along with three other malls in Tennessee, West Virginia and Maryland.
