Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler spoke at the officer initiation of the Chattooga High Jobs for Georgia Graduates Program Thursday afternoon.
Jobs For Georgia graduates is a school-to-work transition program designed to provide high school students with pre-employment training, work skills, motivational activities and job development. JGG provides up services to increase the graduation rate and encourage a successfu ltransition from school to work. The program is funded through the Georgia Department of Labor.
Commissioner Butler said that he is looking for ways to expand and improve the already successful program in Georgia. Butler said that the program is in about 50 high schools across the state, including Chattooga High School, but he wants to see that number increased. Butler serves on the national board that oversees the Jobs for Georgia Graduates Program and is the only State Labor Commissioner on the Board.
