Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Kathy Vanpelt Brown told AM 1180 on Wednesday her office ran out of metal car tags for drivers in Chattooga County.
Brown said that she had no control over the problem, because the state had allowed their inventory of metal tags to dwindle down. Brown said that her office would be issuing temporary paper tags until the problem is resolved. She also said that local law enforcement officials have been made aware of the tag shortage and were working to resolve the situation.
A new shipment of metal tags is expected in Atlanta today and those tags will begin to make their way to all 159 counties in Georgia.
