Incumbent State Senator Jeff Mullis defeated his Democratic opponent handily in yesterday’s election.  It was the second time Democrat Bruce Coker had faced off with the 4 term state senator.

Mullis, a favorite of the Republican Party in Georgia, garnered 66.7% of the popular vote in the four county district which includes Walker, Chattooga, Catoosa and Dade counties.  Coker received 33.3% of the vote, about 3% less than he did in his last bid for state senator.

Mullis will return to Atlanta where he serves as the chairman for the Senate Transportation Comittee.
