A Ft Payne man accused of stabbing his father to death – had a preliminary hearing earlier in the week, and his case will now be presented to a grand jury.
Tony Ray Stone stands charged with murder in the alleged killing of his father Leesburg resident Barry Turner Stone.
On the evening of October 11th, the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting the discovery of a possible dead body near a creek at Shiloh Crossing.
The body – later identified as that of Barry Stone – was found with multiple stab wounds to both the chest and neck area.
Investigators soon learned Stone had been in the company of his son, Tony – during the 24 hours prior to his death – during questioning, Tony Stone told investigators that his father had talked of ending his own life – and that he had stabbed his father – at his father’s request.
The murder weapon was later found in the trunk of a car, belonging to the father of Tony Stone’s girlfriend.
District Judge Steve Whitmire – finding probable cause for arrest – said the case will be presented to an upcoming grand jury for possible indictment.
Tony Stone remains in the DeKalb County Jail on a bond of $250,000.
