AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio began broadcasting warnings about severe weather that was moving through the area just west of Chattooga County around 2:30 this afternoon. The strong line of thunderstorms stretched from an area around Gadsden, Alabama all the way north to Dayton, Tennessee. The line of thunderstorms was moving quickly at around 40 miles per hour. As the storms moved through the Chattooga County an area just west of Menlo from Cloudland to Teloga saw a strong band of storms. As the storms moved across the county areas around Alpine and over to Lyerly were experiencing heavy downpours and winds up to 60 Miles per hour. AM 1180 Chattooga County radio received reports of a tree that crashed into a house on Farrar Drive in Summerville. The Chattooga County Sheriff’s department has reported power lines down on Butler Dairy Road. The strong storms moved through Summerville and were headed into the Subligna and Armuchee area after 4 PM.
