The Chattooga County Board of Education held a work session meeting Tuesday night at 7pm at the County Board of Education Office. Superintendent Dr. Dwight Pullen, along with School Nutrition Director Phyllis Oliver, presented certificates of appreciation to community volunteers and Chattooga County Schools staff for their contribution to the Summer Feeding Program. A reception was held prior to the meeting for staff and volunteers. Ms. Oliver said, "the Chattooga County Summer Feeding Program was a huge success!" She informed the crowd that meals began being delivered at various locations one week after the last school term ended and continued until one week before this school year began. According to her calculations, Oliver estimated that a little over 60,466 meals were provided for children through the program.
In other Board action, Dr. Pullen recommended that several items be approved in next week’s executive session, including invoices for work on the new CHS press box and stadium improvement. Also, three bids were heard for the purchase of lab equipment for a Language Arts lab at CHS.
The Board will meet again on Monday, September 9th at 7pm, at the Chattooga County Board of Education office located on Middle School Road. The public is invited to attend.
