The lighting of the Christmas tree will be the highlight of the City of Summerville’s Christmas in the Park Thursday night.
The annual Christmas Celebration is set for 6 to 9 p.m. at Dowdy Park. Going on for about 10 years now, the program will include Charlie Long siging the national anthem, firewords and the lighting of the Christmas tree. Kevin and Branna Woods will perform a selection of songs at the event and then Santa will arrive at the park and then go to the historic Summervile Depot to take pictures with area children. All pictures are free and will be available at Summerville City Hallf or pickup at a later date. Each child having their picture taken with Santa will receive a stocking. Pictures with Santa are from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Other festivities include hay rides from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; popcorn, hot chocolate, cotton candy, a bonfire and entertainment.
