The Summerville City Council met on Monday evening at Summerville City Hall.  The newest council member was sworn in at last night’s meeting.  Kristy Dennis is taking the seat formerly held by Earl Parris, Jr.

Dennis won the seat in the November municipal election after defeating Lorraine Roberts with 82% of the vote.  Dennis told WZQZ News that her main priorities at this point are learning about the city’s finances and working with the other council members to put the city on a solid economic footing.

The council honored former Councilman Buddy Windle for his years of service with a proclamation from Mayor Harry Harvey, the Council and Windle was presented with a key to the city.

The council also set the date for a special election that will be held later this year to fill the seat of former Councilman Buddy Windle.  Windle stepped down from his seat in December.  The special election will be held on March 24, 2020 with qualifying for the special election will taking place February 10-12, 2020.

WZQZ News will have more from the Summerville City Council meeting in upcoming newscasts and online.
