Dekalb County authorites have arrested five people, in the wake of a drug bust occurring in the Cartersville community.

Dekalb County Sheriff’s Deputy Kody Oliver with Henagar Police Officer Coy Blackwood went to a residence at the intersection of County Road 141 and Alabama Highway 75 in an effort to locate a suspect on whom the Sheriff’s Office had felony warrants.

Upon their arrival Oliver and Blackwood received permission to search the home and while looking for the individual, they spotted drug paraphernalia and devices used in the smoking of methamphetamine. Investigator Mitchell Dendy with the Drug Task Force, was called to the scene and upon further investigation, a meth lab was located in a closet of the residence and marijuana plants were found growing on the kitchen table.

Four adults and one juvenile were taken into custody and each was charged with one count of the Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd Degree and the Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The four adults placed under arrest included –

  • 32 year old John Ray Walker of Summerville, Georgia (who at the time was out on bond for drug charges in Jackson County);
  • 25 year old Christine Michele Edmondson of a Flat Rock address (currently on probation on manufacturing charges in Georgia);
  • 40 year old Shannon Denise Franks of Henagar;
  • Judy Carol Wright, age 44 of Pisgah.

They were transported to the Dekalb County Detention Center where they remain at this time awaiting bond.

Meanwhile, the juvenile was transported to the Coosa Valley Detention Center in Anniston.
