Rome Police arrested two men over the weekend that were charged with felony robbery charges after they were found to have robbed the Walgreens on Shorter Avenue and the Market on Second on East Second Avenue. According to Officer Josh Kerce with the Rome Police Department: Curtis Dowell, 39, of a Cave Spring Road address and James Burse, 52, of Summerville, Ga., were taken into custody shortly after a 7:30 a.m. snatch and grab robbery at Market on Second, identical to the one they committed around 4:40 a.m. Saturday morning at Walgreens. Kerce stated one of the suspects entered both locations to make a purchase, and once the register was opened reached over the counter and grabbed money from the registers before fleeing the store. Dowell, who was indentified as the suspect who snatched money from the register at the Market on Second, was detained after a short foot chase where one officer received minor injuries. Police did not release the name of the officer but said he returned back to duty shortly after. Burse was stopped in a vehicle shortly after the burglary by another officer, and was taken into custody following a brief investigation. The two remain in custody and have been charged with two counts of felony burglary. Dowell also faces charges of one count of felony obstruction on officers, and two counts misdemeanor obstruction.
