On Saturday the Chattooga County Democratic Party met in Summerville and heard from Summerville Mayor Harry Harvey.  Mayor Harvey told local Democrats that he is excited about being the mayor of Summerville and looked forward to the challenges and opportunities that Summerville faces.

Harvey said that the Summerville City budget had been "challenging" but that the city had been able to work through the budget issues without instituting property taxes.  Harvey said that one of the goals he has for Summerville is to come up with a mission statement and set short-term and long-term goals for the city.

Local Democrats discussed the upcoming Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner which will be held August 13th at Pop’s in Summerville and set the date for the next party meeting for July 9 at 8:30 AM which will also be held at Pop’s.
