A tragic accident that happened last December and took the life of a Rome woman has led to a Summerville woman being indited on charges of homicide by vehicle.

On December 12th Penny Ammons topped Marks Hill on Highway 48 driving west when she crashed into Sue Hight of Rome, killing HIght.  Traffic was shut down for hours as emergency workers cleared the accident.

It is believed that Ammons was intoxicated as a result of prescription pills when the accident happened.  In addition to homicide by vehicle, Ammons was indited for six counts of DUI, wreckless driving, failure to maintain a single lane and speeding.
