Law enforcement officials are still looking for a wanted suspect that fled on foot from a roadblock Sunday afternoon at Cloudland. AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio spoke with Sheriff John Everett who stated that Chattooga County deputies were conducting a roadblock on Stateline Road at Cloudland on Sunday afternoon when the incident occurred. According to the sheriff, the suspect was a passenger in the back seat of a vehicle and when the vehicle approached the roadblock the suspect bolted and took off on foot. According to reports the man ran through the densely wooded area in the vicinity of Hawkins Road off of Stateline Road. The search for the man is centered in an area between Stateline Road, Highway 48 and Highway 157. There are hundreds of acres of wooded and former coal mine property in the area. Sheriff Everett said the suspect had several warrants and according to sources within the Chattooga County Sheriffs Department, the suspect is known to be violent at times. The K9 Unit from Hays State Prison has been called in to assist the Sheriffs Department in the hunt for the suspect.
Update – As of Monday morning, the suspect has not been captured.
