Two suspects have been charged with Burglary 3rd Degree in connection with a burglary which recently occurred at a residence in the Gaylesville area.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, 21 year old Aaron Kyle Smothers, of the Ft Payne area, along with a 17 year old juvenile, are both facing felony charges in that case.

Also, one person has been charged with Theft of Property 1st Degree for a theft of a 1990 Mack Dump Truck, taken from the lot beside Kerr’s Redi-Mix on Highway 411, between Centre and Leesburg – the truck was stolen sometime Saturday afternoon or evening.

A Georgia State Trooper stopped the vehicle near Trenton, Georgia late Saturday evening – a quick check of the driver and truck resulted in the Trooper learning that the driver had no license and that the truck had been reported stolen.

The driver was arrested and now faces several charges in that state – he currently remains in jail in Dade County, Georgia, awaiting extradition back to Cherokee County.

Cherokee County authorities are also seeking information, regarding the theft of a black 2003 Honda Motorcycle recently stolen from the John’s Crossroads area – anyone having any information concerning this case is encouraged to call the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office at (256) 927-3365.
