Northwest Georgia has seen an abundance of rain over the past 36 hours. In some areas of Chattooga County more than 3 inches of rain has fallen producing swollen creeks and ditches carrying the excess water run off.
Chattooga County Road Crews were kept busy yesterday dealing with the problems caused by the excessive rain fall. The Chattooga County Sheriffs Department was also busy responding to problems caused by the flooding.
The forecast continues to call for more rain today, but weather forecasters say that the rainfall will barely put a dent in the drought that has been on going in Northwest Georgia. Before the rain we received this week Northwest Georgia was over 12" behind in rainfall. We can expect up to 2 more inches of rain today with the rain changing to snow showers tonight.
