The average tax bill in Chattooga County is around $150 higher this year because the Georgia General Assembly took the extra homestead tax exemption away. Chattooga County Tax Commissioner Kathy Brown wants people to know that the reason for the increase is their property tax bill is a decision from Atlanta not a local one.
Tax Commissioner Kathy Brown spoke with AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio this week that many area residents have been surprised as their tax bills began to arrive this week in the mail. Brown along with other area elected officials have been warning residents about the increase in their property tax bills.
