The day dreaded by many when you must have your income tax return postmarked is this Thursday.  April 15th is the deadline set by the IRS to have your federal income tax returns postmarked in order to avoid penalties unless you file for an extension.

Tax payers are reminded that any unemployment compensation above $2,400 is taxable.  Local post offices in Chattooga County do not stay open late on tax day which means you must have your income tax in the mail by 5 PM or drive to somewhere like Chattanooga where there are postal facilities that stay open later.
