Severe thunderstorms rolled through Chattooga County on Thursday afternoon and left some trees down and the power out in some areas.
Shortly before 5 PM on Thursday afternoon Chattooga County Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that a tree had blown down during the thunderstorm on Dry Creek Road. The tree was blocking part of the road until county work crews could get the area cleaned up.
Some customers with Georgia Power at Cloudland were without power for around 4 1/2 hours. Chattooga County 911 dispatchers told AM 1180 that the likely cause of the power outage was lightning. The power was restored shortly before 10 PM on Thursday evening.
