The Town of Trion held what was to be the first of two public hearing regarding the upcoming fiscal year budget. The mayor was there, the town council was there and AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio News was there, but no one else showed up. The mayor and town council waited for about 15 minutes and then left.
Mayor Benny Perry said that hopefully there would be some more residents at the second meeting which is scheduled for 6 PM this evening at the Trion Town Hall. Since the budget was not gone over and there was no one from the public at the meeting it is not clear that the Town of Trion can legally count this mornings meeting as one of the two required budget hearings. Also questions are being raised about the short notice to the local media regarding the meeting.
