The Trion Bulldogs fought hard again in the second half but tasted defeat for the second week in a row as they were defeated 25-20 by the Lafayette Ramblers.  Lafayette scored on their first play from scrimmage on a 71 yard run to take a 6-0 lead.

Trion would take the lead for the only time in the ballgame as sophomore quarterback Corey Bethune hit Heath Ivester on a 43 yard touchdown pass.  Lafayette would respond with a 16 yard touchdown run with a little over a minute remaining in the first quarter to take the lead for good.  Corey Bethune would score for the Bulldogs from one yard out with a little over two minutes remaining in the second quarter.  Lafayette would go on to take a 28-14 halftime lead.

Trion’s defense played some inspired football in the second half but the offense could only manage one score in the second half when Corey Bethune would score his 3rd touchdown on the night from 4 yards out late in the 4th quarter.  Trion received some bad news when senior wide receiver and safety Heath Ivester went down with an ankle injury in the second quarter and would not return for the remainder of the game.

Trion moves to 0-2 for the first time since 1991 and will go on the road next week to Cumming to take on Pinecrest Academy.  You can hear that game on www.chattoogainfo.com.
