The Summerville-Trion Rotary Club has recognized two outstanding students in the Chattooga County and Trion City school systems, along with two fine teachers.Joseph Samuel McWhorter is Trion’s STAR student and he chose as his STAR teacher, Susan McCain.Susanna Elizabeth Brantley is the Chattooga County School System STAR Student. She chose as her STAR teacher, Angie Culbert.The two students and teachers are outstanding representatives of their respective systems. They will now compete in the district STAR program in Rome, trying to earn an opportunity to compete at the state level.The Rotary Club has sponsored the STAR program for 51 years, since 1958. It is only one of the club’s community projects. It also annually presents numerous scholarships to deserving local students to help them enter college.
