The Trion City Council met last night in their regular monthly meeting at the Trion Town Hall.  Council members took up the issue of the Town of Trion Police Department joining the newly formed Chattooga County Drug Task Force.  On Tuesday evening Chattooga County Sheriff John Everett spoke to the council about the drug task force. Town of Trion attorney Albert Palmour told the council members that there would be no binding contract between the town and the Chattooga County Drug Task Force and that, as the sheriff explained on Tuesday they could pull out of the task force at any time if they find the arrangement is “not working” for them. The town council passed the resolution and now will be providing an officer to the drug task force, bring the total number of full time drug task force agents in the county to four. The Trion Town council will be holding an open public hearing on Monday evening into the demotion of former Trion Police Chief Charles Latta.  That meeting will be held in the council room of the Trion Town Hall at 6 PM.
