A Trion man was jailed on felony and misdemeanor charges early Wednesday after fighting with officers during his arrest, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

Ethan Alexander Ray, 20, of a Trion address, was charged with two counts of misdemeanor criminal trespass, three counts of misdemeanor battery, three counts of felony obstruction or hindering law enforcement officers, misdemeanor loitering or prowling and felony removal or attempted removal of a weapon from a public official.

Ray allegedly tried to enter a Westbrook Drive address around 2 a.m. Wednesday, and when police arrived they tackled him to the ground. Police struggled to keep Ray under control, and at one point he knocked and broke the glasses off of one officer and then tried to get the officer’s weapon away from his holster.

Police were finally able to gain control of Ray, and he was transported to Floyd Medical Center for minor injuries before being taken to the Floyd County Jail.

Officer Ricky Robinson’s left knee was hurt in the fight. He was also taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. Reports stated he was out of work at this time, but police did not know how long he would be off duty.

“That really all depends on the doctors,” said Lt. Paul Greene.
