The Veterans Committee of Trion will hold a ceremony to honor the deceased and living veterans of Trion.  It will take place at the Trion Track Pavillon, Saturday, May 23, 2009, at 1:00pm.  The public is cordially invited to attend and express their support and respect for our 262 deceased military personnel.  The crosses and flags will be on display the week before Memorial Day, through the end of the month.  If you are a veteran of the United States Armed Forces, we encourage you to attend so you can be recognized for your service to your country.

A community-wide yard sale will take place beginning at 8am until 5pm at the track field on the day of the ceremony.  If you are interested in participating in the yard sale, stop by the Trion Town Hall and purchase a 10X20 foot booth space for $10.00.  Keep your receipt to show one of the committee members when you arrive to set up your booth.  This is strictly a yard sale event and NO ELECTRICITY will be provided.

A booth will be set up to sell a variety of desserts.  Cakes and pies will be sold as a whole or by the slice.  All proceeds from the yard sale booth fees and the bake sale will go toward providing more flags and crosses.

At the Veterans Memorial Day Celebration, the Trion Fire Department will be selling hamburgers, hotdogs and other food items.  They will also set up for some kids’ activities.  Fire prevention materials will be available, and there will be a presentation on how to use a fire extinguisher along with other fire prevention education.

Come and participate in the ceremony and other events.  Enjoy a great meal and fellowship.
