The Trion Bulldogs got a big night from Ryan Wilson while cruising to a 42-21 Region 6-A win at home at Sam McCain Stadium.

The loss was the first for Mt. Zion, which falls to 4-1. The Bulldogs improved to 2-3.

Wilson had 242 yards rushing on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns for Trion, while quarterback Daniel Prince was 4-of-10 passing for 97 yards and one TD.

Trace Bethune had a solid all-around night for the Bulldogs, catching two passes for 51 yards, snagging two interceptions on defense, and returning a blocked punt 33 yards for a touchdown.

Tanner Heyer caught a 27-yard TD pass from Prince for Trion’s first score, and Craig Caron kicked the PAT. Bethune’s return and Caron’s extra point gave Trion a 14-7 lead at halftime.

In the third period, Wilson scored on an 8-yard TD run, and he later added a 20-yard scoring romp to make it 28-7.

Kencade Sumner had a 5-yard TD run for Trion late in the third quarter to make it 35-7.

Mt. Zion scored two fourth quarter touchdowns, but Wilson’s 20-yard run late in the fourth quarter finished off the big win for Trion.

The Bulldogs travel to Gordon Lee next week, while Mt. Zion hosts Bowdon.
