Mr. Hoyt Williams will be the keynote speaker at the Veterans Day Event that is scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, November 9th at the Veterans Memorial Park near the Track Field in Trion.
The ninety-six-year-old World War II veteran served in the 465th Engineering Company of the United States Army during the D-Day invasion in Normandy, France in June of 1944. Mr. Williams returned home and was in the grocery business for many years. He has also served as a town councilman and Mayor of Trion. Still active, Mr. Williams is a friendly face familiar to many at Wal-Mart where he has been working for the past twenty-five years.
Trion Mayor Larry Stansell and Chattooga County Probate Judge Jon Payne will serve as masters of ceremony for the event and the colors will be presented by the Greater Rome Georgia Young Marines.
The public is invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony that takes place at 1 PM on Saturday.
