While many are struggling to pay their power bills, the federal utilty TVA will be passing out huge bonus checks to employees on Wednesday of this week, the day before Thanksgiving.  Chattooga County residents who are NGEMC customers are part of the millions that are served by the Tennessee Valley Authority.

$107 million will be passed out to TVA employees according to an article in this weekend’s Chattanooga Times – Free Press.  12,893 TVA employees will receive the bonus checks that average $8,300 up over $1,500 from last year.

The Chief Executive of TVA, Tim Kilgore, will make over $3 million this year – that’s more than 10 times what President Obama draws per year from the federal treasury.  Kilgore and other TVA employees are some of the top-paid federal employees in the United States.
