On Monday the Tennessee Valley Authority adopted a far reaching environmental policy that pledges to reduce the utility’s carbon footprint on the environment.  The board of directors of the federal utility company passed new commitments to energy efficiency, renewable energy and less pollution.  The TVA serves residents in Alabama, Tennessee and about 90,000 customers in North Georgia including Chattooga County residents served by the North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation.  The utility company is seeking to purchase and build new power plants in an effort to serve the ever increasing demand for energy.  The TVA celebrated its 75th Anniversary on Sunday.
