Two Romans remain in jail Thursday morning after they were arrested during a welfare check by sheriff’s deputies, reports stated.
According to reports from the Floyd County Jail:
James Lewis Posey, 37, of 52 Burr Drive, and Vennessa Ann Whiteside, 31, of 23 Burr Drive, were both arrested at Posey’s residence Wednesday at 7:40 p.m. Deputies found two young children inside the house, which didn’t have working heat.
Reports stated that the house was “extremely unsanitary and not suitable for living with two young children.”
The two were jailed on misdemeanor charges of cruelty to children in the first degree and maintaining a disorderly house.
Posey and Whiteside remained in jail Thursday night. Posey had a bail amount of $5,100, and Whiteside was still waiting on bond.
