The American Red Cross has been called in to help two Chattooga County families after house fires on Friday. Local fire departments were busy on Friday in addition to the two house fires there was a shed that burned on Old Highway 27 and a "woods fire" reported off Stateline Road at Cloudland.
The first house fire was early on Friday afternoon on Back Penn Road. Early reports indicated that the fire may have been caused by Christmas lights. Firefighters responded and were able to get the fire under control, but there was damage to the house located at 920 Back Penn Road.
The second house fire was on East Armuchee Road in the Subligna area. East Armuchee Road runs between Gore-Subligna Road and Villanow. According to reports that home was a total loss.
