Two recent high school graduates from the listening area have been drafted by the major leagues. Rashad Ramsey from Summerville was picked by the Oakland A’s. Ramsey was number 605 in the draft and was picked in round 20.  Ramsey also had previously signed to play football for the University of West Georgia.

Cherokee County Alabama athlete Coty Blanchard was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles last week. He played short stop for Cherokee County High School. He was 1,228th pick in the 41st round of the drafts. Coty is debating if he is going to follow his major league dreams or follow his original plan to be a two sport athlete at Jacksonville State University. If he chooses not to sign the contract he would still be eligible as a future draft choice. However, he’s not guaranteed of getting drafted by another club again.
