Counting continues in the race between Democrat Jim Martin and incumbent U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss. Early votes indicated that Chambliss would be able to top the 50% margin and avoid a run-off election as required by Georgia State Law.
According to the latest tallies,Chambliss leads in figures supplied by the Secretary of State’s Office, with 49.9 percent compared to Martin’s 46.7 and Buckley’s 3.4 percent. But Georgia law requires a runoff between the two top vote-getters when no candidate receives more than 50 percent.
A run off election will be held for the LMJC Judge position between candidates Brian House and Larry Stagg on Tuesday December 2.
