A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night in Cedar Bluff.
According to reports, a woman walked into the path of the on-coming vehicle – a full-size Chevy pickup – just after 8:00pm on Highway 9 north near the La Cabana Restaurant
Members of both the Cedar Bluff Police and Fire Departments responded along with Cherokee County Sheriff`s Department Deputies and Cherokee EMS – reportedly an M.D. was on the scene as well. The portion of Hwy. 9 between Hwy.68 and Old Hwy.9 was shut down for well over two hours as investigators worked processing the scene.
Cherokee County Deputy Coroner Broderick Smith was called-in and he pronounced the the victim – identified as 24 year old Felicia Maye Ellis of Cedar Bluff – dead at the scene. According to Investigator J.P. Curry, the circumstances surrounding the incident currently remain under investigation by Cedar Bluff Police and Alabama State Troopers.
No charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the vehicle.
