While the numbers appear to be getting better, unemployment claims were up slightly across Northwest Georgia for April.
According to information released last week by the Georgia Department of Labor, Chattooga County saw an increase of 8 new unemployment claims in April over March, for a total of 76 new unemployment claims.
Chattooga County did better than most surrounding counties. Walker County had 362 unemployment claims, up by 91 over the previous month and Whitfield County saw an increase of 25 new unemployment claims.
