Unemployment has seen a decrease in Northwest Georgia according to the latest numbers released by the Georgia Department of Labor late last week. Overall Northwest Georgia’s unemployment rate dropped one tenth of a percentage point from 11.2 to 11.1, still well above the national average; the number of unemployed workers decreased by 520 over the month of September according to the DOL. Chattooga County’s unemployment rate dropped by four-tenths of a percentage point down to 11.4% in the month of September from 11.8% in August.  Walker County’s unemployment rate now stands at 9.6% down from 10.4% the previous month.
