The Georgia Department of Labor released unemployment numbers for Chattooga County and Northwest Georgia on Thursday of this week. Chattooga County saw a jump in the unemployment rate, up from 10.6% in May to 11.1% in June.
Neighboring Walker County’s unemployment was 8.8% for June – down from 9% in May of this year.
The Georgia Department of Labor said that the regional unemployment rate for the 10 county region of Northwest Georgia was 10.6% which was up three tenths of a percentage point from May.
Also this week the numbers confirmed that Georgia has lost more manufacturing jobs than any other state in the union except California.
