Several events are coming up at James H. Sloppy Floyd State Park in Summerville. 

The Friends of Sloppy Floyd State Park will be holding their regular meeting on Thursday, July 21 at the park.  The meeting will be held at 6:30 PM at Shelter Number Four.  The group encourages new members to attend the meeting and find out how they are working to have the best State Park in Georgia.  Anyone is welcome to join the group and help support James H. Sloppy Floyd State Park.

Coming up this Saturday, July 23 a free movie will be shown at the park.  The only cost is the $5 parking fee.  Bring your blankets and chairs and watch "Scooby Doo – Camp Scare" at the park with the whole family.  Drinks will be available and bathrooms are located nearby.  You may want to bring a flashlight with you.

Ever wanted to go backpacking but never knew where to start? An informative seminar at Sloppy Floyd State Park coming up in August will teach you  what to bring, where to go and how to use the gear. (Class lasts about one hour)

Participants can stay afterwards for the showing of the National Geographic Documentary "Appalachian Trail" on the lake. Movie begins around dark (9:30). $2 plus $5 parking. 706-857-0826.   The event will be held Friday July 22nd at the park.
