Cherokee County and Alabama State officials continue to investigate the body that was found in Weis Lake last Thursday morning by a woman walking along the state docks.

According to reports the body was that of a Hispanic male that was unclothed except for a pair of socks.  Investigators think that the death may have occured at another location, with the body being dumped some time late Wednesday night April 23rd or during the early morning hours of Thursday in shallow waters at the docks located between Cedar Bluff and Centre.

An autopsy has been conducted in an effort to dtermine the cause of death and assist with identification.  According to reports several leads have been investigated but have not provided officials with any concrete information on the unidentified man.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that there was trauma to the head of the victim, although drowning has not been ruled out in this case..  Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver has told reporters that the case is being investigated as a homicide.
