The North Ga Community Action, Inc. will be distributing USDA "surplus" commodities to eligible area residents beginning Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the Chattooga County Community Service Center, 152 Senior Drive, Summerville. Commodities will be distributed daily from 8:30am to 5pm until the supply is exhausted.
Eligibility is determined by a signed "household eligibility criteria form". An individual can be an "authorized representative: for ONE household. The representative must present a completed authorization form from the household they are representing. New authorization forms are required for the distribution. All previous forms are obsolete and cannot be accepted. The new forms are available at the community center and can be picked up prior to the distribution.
Misrepresentation of need, sale or exchange of USDA commodities is prohibited and could result in a fine, imprisonment or both. USDA’s emergency food assistance program is available to all eligible applicants regardless of race, color, national origin, age, sex or handicap.
