Over the past weekend vandals struck the Cherokee County Country Club in Centre, causing a good bit of damage. It is believed the vandals were at the country club sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning.
Golf Course Superintendent David Garrett, said that a golf cart had been taken from its place, and driven over the course – hitting about six greens and the putting green snapping several flags during the process; the course itself received only minor damage, however the flag sticks could cost as much as $400 to replace.
The cart suffered both structural damage and water damage to the motor, and repairs could run as high as $3,000.
Officers collected fingerprints from the cart, and say they are currently following up on a number of leads.
