Jurors in the Michael Bright murder case are expected to reach a verdict today. The State rested its case around 4 PM on Tuesday afternoon and yesterday the jury heard from the defense. Bright is represented by Summerville attorney Albert Palmour. Bright is accused of shooting Richard Shawn Harris in October of 2007 at a Halls Valley Road address in Chattooga County. According to court room testimony Bright and Harris had a long running feud that boiled over into confrontation on the night of the murder. Bright and his attorney say that the shooting was in self defense. According to witnesses the night of the shooting, Harris did approach the truck of Michael Bright, and Bright contends that Harris was trying to enter the vehicle. It’s now up to the jurors to decide if Bright was acting in self-defense, or if in fact the shooting incident was murder.
