Minutes ago Vice President Joe Biden announced that Chattooga County would be added to the President’s Disaster Decleration.

AM 1180 Chattooga County radio spoke with Representative Barbara Massey Reece this afternoon who said that addition of Chattooga County to the disaster decleration would mean federal dollars are now available to flood victims.

Representative Reece spoke with Congressman Phil Gingrey today about the situation in Chattooga County.  Gingrey is expected to come to Chattooga County on Sunday afternoon to survey the damage caused by the flooding in the county. 

70 homes in Chattooga County have been declared unihabitable by FEMA.  Residents of these homes will now see assistance from the federal government.  Renters will be eligible for rental assistance.
