Chattanooga News Media is reporting that auto maker Volkswagon’s decision where to build a new plant could come as soon as July 8th.  The German auto manufacturer has narrowed the search for a new plant sight to Chattanooga or Huntsville.

The unemployment rate in Tennessee is now over 6% which is higher than the national average.  Experts say that could help the area in Volkswagon’s decision making process.  If Volkswagon locates only 45 miles north of Chattooga County it could mean some much needed jobs for area residents.  Chattooga County’s unemployment rate continues to be the highest in the Coosa Valley Region at almost 9%.
