The Primary elections will be held today in Chattooga County and across Georgia to determine several important state races and some local ones as well.  Political pundits say that an August 10th run-off election will most likely be necessary to determine the candidate for Governor since seven Democrats and seven Republicans are seeking the job.

Locally, voters who choose the Democratic ballot will determine the school board races in Chattooga County.  There are three contested races for school board.  Republican voters will choose the next state senator for the fifty third district.

Voters will be facing a heat index of around 101 degrees today and a possibility of afternoon thunderstorms.  Early voting in Chattooga County was light.  Chattooga County election Supt. Judge Jon Payne said that all regular polling places will be open today from 7 AM until 7 PM.  The probate judges office will be closed today and tomorrow due to the election.

AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio will have complete election results this evening starting at 7 PM on the air and on the web at www.chattoogainfo.com
