Voters in neighboring Ft. Payne, Alabama are being asked if the city council in that town should take steps to ban all smoking in public places. When voters in DeKalb County’s County Seat go to the polls to vote in the August 26th municipal elections, they will be asked if the city council should take steps to ban smoking in public. It is unclear what kind of ban the city council would put in affect should the referendum be passed. Recently DeKalb Medical Center in Ft. Payne banned all smoking on hospital property, including a visitors own car.
