Management at Roper in Lafayette is reportedly telling workers that they are taking a “wait and see” attitude regarding that recent announcement that GE is auctioning off its appliance division which could severely impact the 1800 workers at the plant in Lafayette.  Word came last week that GE is scaling back due to a first quarter loss and doing away with their entire appliance division.  Roper has manufactured high end appliances for GE for several years after switching from the manufacturing of lower end appliances.  At one time Roper manufactured appliances under their own brand name.
