An off-duty Walker County 911 operator was arrested last weekend for driving under the influence.

Christina O’Toole was arrested by a Walker County sheriff’s deputy for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, according to Walker County Emergency Management director David Ashburn.

She lives in Rock Spring and was traveling home on U.S. 27 about 1:35 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9.

O’Toole has been a 911 operator in Walker County for about five years and previously worked as an operator in Catoosa County for several years, according to Ashburn.

She is currently back on the job.

“She has been an excellent employee. We have never had the first issue with her.” Ashburn said. “The 911 center still hasn’t had the first issue.

“This occurred on her four days off. It really has nothing to do with the 911 center,” Ashburn said.
