Authorities have arrested a 62-year-old Chickamauga man on child pornography charges.

Michael David Willianson has been charged with sexual exploitation of a child and failure to register as a sex offender.

Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson said Williamson was arrested last week by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Walker County Sheriff’s Department following a search of his residence in the High Point community.

Law enforcement officers discovered a large quantity of child pornography on CDs and floppy disks, Wilson said. Two computers were also confiscated.

Williamson was on “indefinite probation” from California for a child molestation conviction, Wilson said. Also, he has been in violation of California sex offender registration requirements since August 1996.

Investigators believe Williamson has been living in Walker County in obscurity since 1999.
